Lelani Mannetti is an Assistant Professor at the Urban Studies Institute, Georgia State University. Her research focuses on understanding stakeholder differences in values and perceptions of ecosystem services, with a particular emphasis on trade-offs and conflicts in integrated landscapes. She works on adaptive co-governance of complex systems and contributes to the Urban Resilience to Extremes Sustainability Research Network (UREx SRN), a transdisciplinary initiative spanning 10 cities in North and Latin America.
- PhD in Conservation Ecology from Stellenbosch University
- Former postdoctoral associate at Georgia State University
- Specializes in participatory research with stakeholders in social-ecological systems
Her work with UREx SRN involves developing frameworks for integrating social, ecological, and technological dimensions of urban resilience under climatic uncertainty. She collaborates with David Iwaniec to engage policy-makers, planners, scientists, and residents in creating scenarios for resilient urban infrastructure.
Currently serves as Graduate Program Director for the Institute’s Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (MIS) and PhD programs. Her practical experience includes consultancy work in Namibia focused on research, outreach, and project administration.
