Leland Hill is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar. He specializes in visual narrative, character development, and comic book art, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and service learning. His work bridges graphic design with sequential narratives, and he co-founded the VCUarts Qatar Comics Lab, partnering with the university library to explore diverse storytelling through comic and sequential art.
Research interests include visual narratives, cross-cultural design, and sustainable textile practices. Notable projects involve service learning initiatives in Ghana, Turkey, and Mexico, emphasizing global citizenship and community engagement. He has presented at international forums such as the Korea Bojagi Forum, AIGA Design Educators Conference, and Kitibat Arabic Calligraphy Conference.
Funded projects include the Qatar National Research Fund’s Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP) Grant (2007) focused on service learning in global contexts. His work spans publications in design journals and exhibitions, including a textile quilt featured at the Korea Bojagi Forum 2014.
