Lekakos Georgios

Professor Georgios Lekakos is a faculty member at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), serving as Professor in the Department of Management Science and Technology, Director of the M.Sc. Program in Management Science and Technology, and Director of the Professional M.Sc. in Digital Transformation funded by Eurobank. He previously served as Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Learning (2000–2024), President of the Research Center, and President of the Lifelong Learning Center at AUEB.

Research Interests:

• Machine learning algorithms and data analytics for business intelligence
• Recommender systems and personalization technologies
• Big data strategies and scalable analytics architectures
• E-business models and application design with emphasis on user experience

His scholarly output includes over 70 publications in top-tier journals such as the British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Operational Research, and User Modeling and User Adapted Interaction. His work has garnered more than 5,000 citations (h-index 31), reflecting significant impact in the fields of management science and technology.

Research Leadership & Grants:
Professor Lekakos has coordinated or served as principal investigator in over 25 R&D projects funded by the European Union, national Greek programs, and the private sector. He has also contributed to national digital transformation initiatives as a member of several government committees.

He has held leadership roles in academic service, including chairing organizing committees of two international conferences and serving on the program committees of ten others, as well as acting as guest editor for special journal issues.
