Leiming Hu

Leiming Hu is a Researcher IV in the Chemistry and Nanoscience department at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). He holds a Ph.D. and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

His research focuses on electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction systems and fuel cell electrode durability. Prior to NREL, he studied polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells, specializing in electrode durability, catalyst layer proton transport, and nanoscale electrode characterization using advanced techniques like nano X-ray tomography and plasma focus ion-beam scanning electron microscopy.

Recent publications highlight his work on anion exchange membrane water electrolysis, proton exchange membrane fuel cells, and electrocatalyst degradation analysis. His methods include computational modeling (Lattice Boltzmann, finite element) and experimental validation of transport properties.
