Dr. Leif Seibert is an Academic Staff member in the Department of Theology and Diaconal Studies at the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology, Bielefeld University. He also serves as a QM Coordinator and is a module responsible for "36-PM3 Religion as a social phenomenon" in the Commission for Studies and Teaching.

His research focuses on the intersection of religion and society, with particular emphasis on Sociology of Religion, Religion and Conflict, and Criticism of religion and ideology. Dr. Seibert employs both quantitative and qualitative methodologies in his work, having conducted randomized household surveys as well as habitus interviews in field studies across Bosnia and Herzegovina. His approach integrates theoretical frameworks from German Idealism with contemporary sociological theories.
Dr. Seibert has been recognized for his scholarly contributions with the Research Prize for Foreign Cultural Policy (2014) by the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations for his dissertation project on religious credibility in post-war Bosnian-Herzegovinian society.
His research has been supported by significant funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Stockmeier Foundation, and the Buhmann Foundation. Dr. Seibert has collaborated with international partners including CIPS at the University of Sarajevo and StatBeCe at Bielefeld University. He is currently working on a habilitation project examining norm orientation under conditions of multiple social differentiation.
Dr. Seibert is affiliated with the Research Center for Interdisciplinary Religious Studies and is a member of BiSEd within the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology.
