Lei Shi is a Lecturer in the Department of Computing at the Institute of Technology, Carlow (SETU). He holds a PhD from the University of Göttingen (2010). His research focuses on Deep Reinforcement Learning, Cloud Computing, Communication Networks, and Smart Grid Technology, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and energy efficiency.
Lei's research explores energy-efficient resource allocation, distributed machine learning protocols, and network optimization in smart grids and edge computing environments. Recent work includes developing reliable routing algorithms for the Energy Internet and loss-tolerant communication frameworks for distributed AI training.
His publications span journals like Electronics (Switzerland) and conferences such as the IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Quality of Service. He is currently accepting PhD students and has collaborated on projects involving cyber-physical systems, IoT integration, and sustainable computing.
Lei has contributed to over 29 research outputs since 2009, with notable work on DRL-driven resource optimization and network resilience strategies. His research emphasizes practical applications in energy systems, telecommunications, and distributed computing architectures.
