Jian Shi is an Associate Professor jointly appointed in the Department of Engineering Technology and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston, within the Cullen College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Mississippi State University (2014). His research focuses on sustainable energy systems, smart grids, maritime decarbonization, and AI-driven power system optimization. Shi leads the SOAR Lab, advancing innovations in energy storage, grid resilience, and transportation electrification.
