Lei Huang, MD, MS, is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery and the Physiology Division of the Basic Sciences at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. His academic work is centered on understanding and treating acute brain injuries through translational research.
Research Interests: Dr. Huang's research primarily focuses on neuroprotection in the context of stroke, neurosurgery, traumatic brain injury, and cardiac arrest. He utilizes clinically relevant animal models to explore the cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain injury and to develop innovative therapeutic strategies. His expertise spans neuroinflammation, neuronal ferroptosis, oxidative stress, blood-brain barrier integrity, and the role of immune cells in CNS pathology.
