Lei Duan is an Assistant Professor of East Asian History at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). He specializes in the interplay between social violence and state power in modern China, with a focus on gun culture and borderland integration. Prior to SHSU, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan and taught at Arizona State University.
