Dr. Legand Burge is Professor of Computer Science at Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture, where he directs the HowU Innovate Foundry and serves as Executive Director for the Howard West initiative. His research spans distributed computing, AI/ML applications in healthcare, and socio-technical systems design. With a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University, he leads NIH and NSF-funded projects including AIM-AHEAD's Data Science Training Core.
His interdisciplinary work includes developing smart spaces for immersive learning, triage systems for cognitive decline using vocal/facial AI analysis, and blockchain consensus algorithms. He co-founded XediaLabs startup studio and teaches technology entrepreneurship through the Bison Startup accelerator program.
