Leesa Clarke

Dr. Leesa Clarke is Associate Head and Senior Lecturer in Language and Linguistics at York St John University. She specializes in clinical and educational linguistics, focusing on language and literacy development across the lifespan. Her teaching includes modules on Speech and Language Pathology, Language and Literacy, and Language at Work. She supervises research at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels.

Dr. Clarke holds a PhD in Psychology of Language from the University of York, with prior work at the Centre for Reading and Language Assessment Clinic under Prof. Margaret Snowling. She is an HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist and Chartered Psychologist. Her research explores typical/atypical language development, cross-linguistic influence, and literacy education. Notable contributions include studies on grammar learning in bilingual children and literacy motivation in young learners.
