Leena Lauronen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurosciences, University of Helsinki, and a supervisor in the Doctoral Programme Brain & Mind and Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine. She works within the BioMag Laboratory under HUS Physiology, Genetics and Preanalytics, focusing on HUS Children's and Adolescent Diseases.
Her research integrates neurosciences and clinical neurophysiology to study brain development from infancy to adolescence, particularly in preterm and neurodevelopmentally at-risk populations. She employs advanced techniques like EEG and ECG-derived tachograms to map brain function trajectories and explores spinal cord plasticity in response to cortical stimulation. Recent work includes epilepsy surgery diagnostics and neurodevelopmental assessment tools.
Dr. Lauronen’s publications reveal a focus on neurodevelopmental disorders, pediatric neurology, and biomedical signal processing. Her methodological expertise spans stereoelectroencephalography, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and machine learning applications in neurology.
