Leena Kolehmainen is a Professor of German Language at the Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts, University of Helsinki. She holds a PhD in Germanic Philology and a Docent title. Her research focuses on multilingualism, linguistic landscapes, language ideologies, and translation studies, particularly in industrial and historical contexts. She is a founding member of the FI-DACH research network and leads the Lingdustry project on multilingualism in industrial communities.

Research Interests: Multilingualism in communities, linguistic landscapes, language ideologies of Generation Z, translation studies, German syntax, and historical language contact. She examines multilingual practices in industrial towns like Varkaus and investigates beliefs about German in Finland.
Recent Trends in Articles: Explores animal characters in children's literature, language decline in Finnish education, and multilingualism in industrial contexts. Her work bridges linguistics with historical and cultural studies, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.
