Lee de Wit

Dr. Lee de Wit is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Head (Undergraduate Education) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on Political Psychology, exploring topics like immigration attitudes, data-driven political belief analysis, and voter psychology. He supervises PhD students Tessa Buchanan, James Ackland, and Emmanuel Mahieux, and collaborates on grants such as a World Templeton Charity Foundation project with Jens Madsen (LSE). His academic background includes roles as a Senior Teaching Fellow at UCL and Academic Director at the Institute of Continuing Education, Cambridge. He holds degrees from the University of Bristol and Durham University, with postdoctoral research at KU Leuven and visiting positions at institutions like UCL’s Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience.

Research Interests: Dr. de Wit investigates psychological drivers of political attitudes, polarization dynamics, and the cognitive mechanisms underlying voter behavior. His work combines computational modeling, experimental psychology, and data science to address real-world challenges such as improving communication strategies around migration policies and understanding the structure of political belief systems.

Labs/Teams: Leads the Political Psychology Lab. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams including David Young (LSE) and Alan Renwick (UCL).

Teaching: Oversees undergraduate education in psychology at Cambridge and has extensive teaching experience in experimental psychology and cognitive neuroscience.
