Lee Trepanier is Dean of the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Assumption University, a position he assumed in July 2024. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Louisiana State University and has served as Chair of Political Science at Samford University and Saginaw Valley State University. His academic work spans political philosophy, American politics, constitutional law, and the intersection of literature and politics.

His research focuses on Eric Voegelin, religion and politics, democracy and education, and the teaching of political science. He is deeply engaged in interdisciplinary scholarship, particularly in politics and literature, conservative political thought, and the role of the humanities in modern education.
The 15 most recent publications reflect a strong emphasis on political theory, intellectual history, and pedagogy. They explore themes such as civic education, crisis and order, cosmopolitanism, and spiritual dimensions of political life. His editorial work on Voegelin, Dostoevsky, Philip Roth, and Saul Bellow highlights a sustained interest in how literature and philosophy illuminate political questions.
Dr. Trepanier is editor of Bloomsbury Academic’s Politics, Literature, and Film book series, underscoring his leadership in bridging disciplines. He has also directed civic education programs and served as pre-law advisor, demonstrating commitment to student development and public engagement.
He has been involved in various academic programs and has taught a wide range of courses including American Government, Political Ideologies, Constitutional Law, and World Politics. His leadership as dean reflects his dedication to liberal arts education and interdisciplinary inquiry.
