Lee Miles is a Professor of Crisis and Disaster Management at Bournemouth University Disaster Management Centre (BUDMC) and Associate Dean for Research, Innovation and Enterprise in the Faculty of Business and Law. He has held professorial roles at multiple institutions including Liverpool, Karlstad, Loughborough, and Bournemouth Universities, alongside honorary positions at Lancaster and UCL.

His research focuses on Political Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Resilience, and Single Points of Failure (SPOF) Analysis, with extensive fieldwork in Africa and the Caribbean. His 15 most recent publications span Crisis Communication, Disaster Resilience, and European Integration. He has received international recognition including AACSB's Top 25 'Innovations that Inspire' (2023) and European Union's Jean Monnet Professorships.
