Lee Jussim is a Professor of Psychology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, affiliated with the School of Arts and Sciences. He leads the Social Perception Lab (SPL), focusing on social perception, scientific integrity, and political radicalization. His work examines how stereotypes and biases influence social judgments, with recent emphasis on biases in academia and scientific research practices.
Dr. Jussim’s research interests include stereotype accuracy, implicit bias, political extremism, and challenges to scientific objectivity. He has advised numerous graduate students and postdocs, many of whom have pursued impactful careers in academia and policy. His lab’s work has been featured in prominent journals and addresses contemporary societal issues, such as foreign funding in education and misinformation on social media.
Key ongoing projects include analyzing the effects of individuating information on implicit judgments, investigating the role of foreign funding in shaping campus norms, and combating academic censorship. His lab’s interdisciplinary approach bridges social psychology, political science, and science policy, with implications for improving research practices and promoting intellectual diversity.
