Lee Joiner

Lee Joiner is an Assistant Professor of Violin at the Conservatory of Wheaton College, where he has taught since 1983. His responsibilities include chairing the string studies program, teaching violin, chamber music, and string literature. Dr. Joiner has performed with renowned ensembles such as the Contemporary Chamber Players at the University of Chicago, Lyric Opera, and Madison Wisconsin Bach Musicians Baroque Orchestra.

Dr. Joiner specializes in classical violin performance, chamber music, and string literature, with a particular interest in early music practices and solo violin works. His research includes annotated recitals tracing the development of solo violin repertoire and collaborations with composers like Vincent Persichetti and Shulamit Ran. He also explores jazz through the 3 + 1 String Quartet's performances.

Active in teaching and performance, Dr. Joiner has coached at Credo Chamber Music and former institutions like Rocky Ridge Music Center. His 3 + 1 String Quartet, formed in 2018, engages in stylistically diverse repertoire and plans jazz collaborations with artists like Camila Meza.
