Lee Fabrigar is a Professor and Chair of the Social/Personality Program in the Department of Psychology at Queen’s University. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from The Ohio State University (1995), following degrees from Miami University (B.A., 1988) and the University of Maryland (A.A., 1986).
His research focuses on attitude structure, persuasion, social influence, and statistical methodology in psychological research. Key areas include how attitudes are shaped by context, the impact of vocal cues on persuasion efficacy, and the integration of personality traits with self-concept theories. Methodological contributions include work on exploratory factor analysis and causal hypothesis testing in nonexperimental data.
Dr. Fabrigar has received multiple teaching awards, including the Frank Knox Award for Teaching Excellence (1999) and repeated recognition for graduate teaching excellence (2007, 2012, 2015). He has served as editor or consulting editor for top journals like Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.
His research spans over 25 years, with notable contributions to understanding meta-bases of attitudes, structural ambivalence measurement, and the interplay between attachment theory and relational commitment. Current projects likely continue to explore the psychological mechanisms underlying social influence and methodological rigor in social psychology.
