Lee Carkner is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Augustana University and serves as director of the John Deere Planetarium, a role he has held since joining the faculty in 1999. His work bridges academic instruction and extensive public outreach in astronomy.

Dr. Carkner's research centers on Astrophysics and Stellar Astronomy, with specific expertise in X-ray emission from young stellar objects.
