Dr. Lee Ann Nutt serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Doctorate in Community College Leadership (DCCL) program at Ferris State University's Extended and International Operations while concurrently leading as President of Lone Star College-Tomball since February 2015. With over fifteen years of community college leadership experience, she previously held the Vice Presidency of Instruction at LSC-Tomball starting in 2011 and served over twelve years at North Central Texas College in progressive roles including Provost and Vice President of Instruction.
Her educational foundation includes an EdD and MEd in Community College Leadership plus a BBA in Management, all earned at Texas Tech University where she graduated as a Red Raider. These qualifications underpin her expertise in higher education administration and leadership development.
Dr. Nutt's research concentrates on community college leadership effectiveness, student success frameworks, and the critical role of non-cognitive factors like grit and growth mindset in completion agendas. Her work bridges theory and practice through extensive national presentations addressing practical implementation of student success strategies, strategic planning integration, and leadership development within community college contexts.
Her scholarly output includes the 2015 book chapter 'Expanding the Completion Agenda to Include Grit and Growth Mindset' which represents the evolution of her research focus from earlier work on women in leadership. Recent presentations (2015-2017) consistently demonstrate thematic continuity in exploring how institutional culture and leadership approaches impact student outcomes beyond traditional completion metrics.
As an active sector leader, Dr. Nutt contributes through significant board appointments including the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on Leadership and Professional Development, Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce, and Tomball Rotary Club. Her extensive service on nearly twenty professional boards provides doctoral students with valuable insights into governance structures and leadership pathways within higher education and community organizations.
