Leda Berio

Leda Berio is a researcher in philosophy and cognitive science affiliated with Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU). She specializes in the intersection of cognition, language, and culture, particularly exploring how language acquisition shapes social cognition and cultural influences on cognitive development. Her work includes leading a postdoctoral project on schemata and linguistic input in social cognition, collaborating on the 'Communicative Mind' project at the University of Warwick, and co-coordinating the 'Race: negotiating a fraught German term' project funded by Bürgeruniversität. She holds a PhD from the University of Milan (2015) with a thesis on language-thought relations, an MA in Philosophical Sciences (2013), and a BA in Philosophy (2013), also from the University of Milan. Her research further addresses race concepts, enculturation studies, and dialogue modeling with Prof. Gottfried Vosgerau.

Research interests include: language relativity, social cognition mechanisms, race discourse in German socio-political contexts, and the role of mental representations in communication. Her funded projects include conceptual engineering for race terminology and enculturation studies. She has contributed to interdisciplinary conferences like CONTEXT2017 (Paris) and published in journals like Synthese and Grazer Philosophische Studien. Current work expands her PhD findings on false belief reasoning through postdoctoral research on cultural schemata.
