Leanne Staddon

Dr. Leanne Staddon is an Associate Lecturer and Research Fellow investigating planetary evolution through meteorite analysis and analogue studies. She coordinates the School's Geology Field Camp in Scotland and researches high- and low-temperature processes across planetary bodies.

Research Focus: Staddon's dual-track research program examines:

• Shock metamorphism and geochronology of Martian meteorites
• Water-rock interactions in icy moon subsurface oceans using terrestrial analogues
• Early Earth evolution through detrital mineral records

Analytical Expertise: Her work employs petrological, microstructural, and isotopic techniques to constrain planetary processes. Recent publications establish microstructural criteria for reliable baddeleyite geochronology in shocked meteorites.

Teaching: She directs the 5-week ES4801 Geology Field Camp, training students in advanced field techniques for geological mapping and analysis.
