Leanne Cleal serves as a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care and the School of Midwifery and Community Health. A Registered Children's Nurse and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse), she brings extensive clinical experience from pediatric cardiorespiratory care and community school nursing to her academic role.
Her educational background includes:
- BA (Hons) Music with Education Studies from the University of Plymouth
- BSc (Hons) Nursing (Child) from Anglia Ruskin University
- Community Practitioner Nurse Prescriber (V100) from Anglia Ruskin University
- MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nursing) from Anglia Ruskin University
Leanne's research centers on school nursing practice, student nurse education experiences, and children's health advocacy. She passionately champions the critical role school nurses play in supporting children, young people, and families to achieve their full potential. Her recently completed master's project investigated how practice-based experiences influence student nurse recruitment into school nursing, laying groundwork for future research in this underexplored area.
She has mentored pre-registration and SCPHN students across clinical and community settings throughout her career. Leanne maintains active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as both a Children's Nurse and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse).
