Leander Mitchell

Dr. Leander Mitchell is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland's School of Psychology and serves as the Clinical Academic at the UQ Psychology Clinic. She specializes in training provisional psychologists and maintains clinical practice in aged care and private settings. Her qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy and Doctoral Diploma from UQ.

Her research centers on geropsychology, with focus areas including dementia care, anxiety in Parkinson's disease, financial capacity in older adults, animal-assisted therapy, and nature-based wellbeing interventions. She employs strengths-based frameworks in clinical practice and research.

Mitchell's publications emphasize geriatric mental health, telehealth interventions, and neuropsychological assessments. Recent work explores technology-assisted CBT for anxiety in cognitive impairment, sensory support in aged care, and Parkinson's disease subtyping.
