معرفی
Leah Modigliani is an Associate Professor of Visual Studies at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture. As an artist and scholar, her work bridges fine arts, art history, critical geography, urban studies, and politics, examining themes like urban displacement, revanchism, war-torn cities, and creative resistance.
- PhD, Art History and Criticism, Stony Brook University (2010)
- MFA, Sculpture, San Francisco Art Institute (1997)
- BFA, Studio Art, Concordia University (1993)
Her research explores the dualities of urban life—liberatory movements (e.g., the right to the city) versus systems of oppression (e.g., eviction policies, punitive laws). She employs sculpture, photography, and archival re-enactment to deconstruct historical narratives and visualize urban struggles like displacement and protest.
Her recent articles and books focus on urbanism and creative labor, including the 2023 publication Counter-Revanchist Art in the Global City (Routledge) and the 2019 article on critical plagiarism in art. These works span urban policy, conceptual art, and gender dynamics.
