Leah Hamilton is the Vice Dean of Research and Community Relations and Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Mount Royal University’s Faculty of Business, Communication Studies, and Aviation. Her research focuses on social and economic integration of newcomers and refugees in Canada, emphasizing community engagement and policy impact. She holds a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Western University (2011), an MA from the University of Guelph (2006), and a BA (2004).
Her work is funded by SSHRC and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Key projects include evaluating public health communications for racialized groups, analyzing housing stability for Syrian refugees during the pandemic, and designing mentorship programs for undergraduate students. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, with notable contributions to Studies in Social Justice, Group Processes & Intergroup Relations, and Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.
Teaching focuses on organizational behavior, leadership, and research methods. Awards include the 2022 Research Recognition Award for undergraduate supervision and 2017 Distinguished Faculty Award. She collaborates with settlement agencies, government bodies, and academic institutions to bridge research with practical solutions for immigrant integration challenges.
