Dr. Leafia Ye is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto, where she is cross-appointed at the Institute for Life Course & Aging and affiliated with the Global Migration Lab under the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. She completed her Ph.D. in Sociology (with minor in Statistics and Data Science) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023.

Her research explores inequalities by immigration status and the aging process, using quantitative methods on administrative/survey datasets. She focuses on immigrant integration, later-life health, and economic well-being. Current work includes an NIH R21-funded project linking integration to health outcomes.
Recent publications analyze diminishing health advantages among Asian Americans, undocumented status effects on life course development, and reversed economic assimilation in elderly immigrants. Her 15 most recent articles span topics in sociology, demography, and public health.
