Lay Khoon Too is a Researcher at the Save Sight Institute, affiliated with the University of Sydney and its Charles Perkins Centre. Her work spans neuroscience and ophthalmology, focusing on retinal diseases and gene therapy for vision restoration.
Research interests include molecular mechanisms of neuronal injury, optogenetics, retinal progenitor cells, and inflammation in neurodegenerative diseases. She utilizes murine models and human retinal explants to bridge preclinical and clinical applications.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to optogenetic vision restoration, retinal stem cell therapy, and neuroinflammatory pathways in meningitis and age-related diseases. Her grants include NHMRC Ideas Grants and funding from the Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation.
