Lawrence T. DeCarlo is a Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, affiliated with the Department of Human Development and the Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistics program. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook, an M.S. in Biostatistics from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook.
His research focuses on statistical modeling of psychological processes, including latent class analysis, structural equation modeling, and item response theory. Notable work includes reparameterizing diagnostic classification models (e.g., DINA/RDINA) and integrating signal detection theory with educational measurement frameworks.
