Lawra Suits Clark is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the NYU Game Center within the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. They hold an MFA in Game Design from NYU (2014) and a Bachelor’s in Music Production and Sound Design from Ohio University (2007). Their teaching spans game design, development, and studies at Tisch, Tandon School of Engineering, and the School for Poetic Computation.
Research focuses on climate fiction, absurdist futures, death positivity, ambient play, and allegorical fantasy, emphasizing game mechanics as poetic devices. Co-founder of Babycastles Gallery (2014), a nonprofit showcasing marginalized creators in independent videogames since 2009.
Recipient of the Grand Prize at the Ludicious Festival (2020s), with works featured globally in festivals and conferences. Advises projects like Bloomsome, a 2024 Alfred P. Sloan Grant winner. Active in NYC’s arts community through workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative events like Playtest Thursdays with Gotham Go Group.
