Lauris P. Wren is a Clinical Professor of Law at Hofstra University School of Law, where she also serves as Director of Clinical Programs and Director of the LGBTQIA+ Fellowship Program. She founded the Political Asylum Clinic, a key component of the law school's experiential learning offerings, which trains students to represent asylum seekers fleeing persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
Her research and professional interests focus on immigration law, human rights advocacy, and clinical legal education. Through the Asylum Clinic, students have represented clients from diverse countries including Chad, Venezuela, Haiti, Nepal, and El Salvador. Her work emphasizes pro bono service and social justice, with a strong commitment to supporting marginalized immigrant communities.
The Asylum Clinic has been featured in Newsday and Immigration Law Today, highlighting its impact on both students and clients. Ms. Wren’s initiatives bridge legal training with real-world advocacy, reinforcing the role of law schools in public service.

Ms. Wren has extensive practical experience in immigration and criminal appeals, having worked with the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, CARECEN, and the Legal Aid Society. She has also participated in international human rights missions and supported victims of the 9/11 attacks and post-9/11 immigration policies. She advises students through clinical supervision and fellowship programs, shaping the next generation of public interest lawyers.
