Laurie Wright is an Associate Professor at the Warsash Maritime School, part of Solent University, and serves as Head of the Centre for Marine Sustainability. Her research focuses on environmental sustainability in maritime contexts, with expertise in life cycle assessment (LCA), carbon footprint analysis, and decarbonization strategies for marine sectors. She leads major projects such as the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub and Zero Emission Foiling Trimaran initiatives, addressing sustainable propulsion systems and emission reduction.
Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in combating climate change and advancing sustainable infrastructure. Key research areas include alternative marine fuels, green shipping technologies, and policy frameworks for maritime sustainability. Over 40 peer-reviewed publications reflect her contributions to environmental engineering, education, and policy. Notable collaborations involve EPSRC, Innovate UK, and industry partners to drive innovation in clean energy solutions.
Dr. Wright actively participates in academic activities such as journal peer-review (Sustainability), educational program development, and student supervision in maritime engineering and environmental science. Her projects emphasize cross-disciplinary approaches to tackle global environmental challenges through data-driven decision making and life cycle analysis methodologies.
