Laurie W. Shroyer serves as Professor of Surgery, Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery, and Assistant Dean for Educational Research at Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine. She concurrently holds appointments as Professor in the Division of Evaluative Sciences (Graduate Program in Public Health) and directs the National Cardiovascular Care Improvement Program for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Her research focuses on translational applications in cardiac surgery outcomes, including enhanced risk modeling, diagnostic test evaluation, surgical technology assessment, and data-driven decision support across clinical, administrative, and policy domains. Key methodological approaches encompass clinical trials, health services research, and quality improvement frameworks with emphasis on risk adjustment and evidence-based practice.
