Laurie Quinn is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing. She also serves as Director of the Center for Sleep and Health Research and is a co-Investigator on an NIH-funded project developing subject-specific glucose prediction models for type 1 diabetes patients using actigraphy and continuous glucose monitoring.
Her research spans over two decades, focusing on improving diabetes management and reducing complications by integrating behavioral, psychological, and physiological factors. She has collaborated with engineers from the Illinois Institute of Technology to advance artificial pancreas systems, incorporating physical activity, stress, meals, and sleep into predictive algorithms. Her work addresses metabolic alterations in diabetes and their links to cardiovascular disease, with recent emphasis on glycemic variability and physical activity dynamics.
