Laurie O'Higgins is the Euterpe B. Dukakis Professor of Classical and Medieval Studies at Bates College. She has previously taught at The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University, and her academic work spans classical languages, literature, and cultural studies.
- Teaching Interests: Greek/Latin language, Food in Ancient Greece/Rome, Gender and the Body
- Research Focus: Voices of non-elite individuals in antiquity, classical reception, Homeric studies
Her publications include Women and Humor in Classical Greece (2003, Cambridge University Press) and The Irish Classical Self (2017, Oxford University Press). She is currently working on a book about the Odyssey.
