Laurie Matiation is the Artistic Director of the Academy and Advanced Program at Mount Royal University Conservatory, concurrently serving on the brass faculty at both Mount Royal University Conservatory and the University of Calgary. She holds a B.Mus. degree.
Her expertise encompasses horn performance, brass pedagogy, and curriculum development for advanced music students. With 41 years as a professional orchestral musician (retiring from Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in 2019), she integrates performance experience into her teaching methodology.
Additional contributions include founding HornFest, conducting workshops, and solo performances with major orchestras.
