Laurie Lewis

Laurie Lewis is a Professor of Communication and Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Success at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she co-leads the Center for Dialogue & Deliberation. With a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, she has previously held faculty positions at Pennsylvania State University, University of Texas at Austin, and Rutgers University.

Key awards include the National Communication Association's Best Monograph Award (2020-2021) and ALA Choice Outstanding Academic Title (2020). Her 2019 book The Power of Strategic Listening introduced the APPRAISE listening audit tool for organizational assessment.
