Dr. Laurie Durel is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern, affiliated with the Policy Analysis and Environmental Governance (PEGO) research group, the Institute of Public Law, and the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research. Her work bridges climate policies, international trade regimes, and international political economy. She holds a Ph.D. from Université Laval, supported by a Joseph Armand Bombardier Scholarship from SSHRC.

Her research focuses on sub-national climate policy diffusion, legal discourse analysis in climate governance, and the interplay between trade law and environmental policy. Key projects include the 'Climate Federalism in a Globalized World' study and the Framenet collaboration exploring climate policy frames in Europe.
Recent publications analyze discourse networks shaping EU climate policies, WTO norm evolution on border carbon adjustments, and Quebec’s role in free trade negotiations. She co-authored a 2023 Journal of European Public Policy article on climate proposal framing in the EU Green Deal.
