Laurie C. Anderson is the Vice President of Research at South Dakota Mines. She holds a Ph.D. in Geology and has served as Department Head for Geology & Geological Engineering, Director of the Museum of Geology, and Interim Head of Mining Engineering & Management.
- B.A. in Geology, Biology, and Music from University of Minnesota-Morris (1985)
- M.S. in Geology from Bowling Green State University (1987)
- Ph.D. in Geology from University of Wisconsin-Madison (1991)
Her research focuses on the paleobiology, paleoecology, taphonomy, and phylogeny of mollusks, particularly Bivalvia. She studies clades like Corbulidae and Lucinidae, emphasizing their evolutionary responses to environmental changes and symbiotic relationships in coastal ecosystems.
