Dr. Laurie Benton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forensic Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She holds a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the same institution (1998) and is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois. Her expertise spans trauma-informed care, forensic mental health services, and child/adolescent psychopathology. She maintains a private practice in Chicago and Grayslake, specializing in psychotherapy for court-involved individuals and families, psychological assessments, and trauma-focused interventions.
Dr. Benton has been with The Chicago School since 2002 as adjunct faculty, advancing to her current rank in 2005. She developed diagnostic practicum programs and a pre-doctoral internship within The Forensic Center. Her clinical experience includes roles at Allendale Association (treating severely traumatized youth) and the Integrated Assessment Program with DCFS, where she supervises forensic assessments for families in care. She also provides training on trauma-related topics and vicarious trauma resilience.
Her education includes a B.A. in Psychology from Manhattan College and an M.S. in Experimental Psychology from Villanova University.
