Dr. Laurene Soubise is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leeds, School of Law, specializing in comparative criminal justice, prosecutorial systems, and criminal law. She holds a PhD from the University of Warwick (co-tutelle with Université Lumière Lyon 2) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Previously, she taught at the University of Liverpool and the University of Warwick.

Research Interests: Dr. Soubise focuses on legal decision-making in criminal justice, using empirical and comparative methods. Current projects include analyzing the 'loss of control' defense under UK law and studying the socio-legal implications of post-sentencing enforcement mechanisms. She also critiques managerialism’s impact on prosecutorial independence and contributes to debates on criminal justice reform.
