Laurence Daoust is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at HEC Montréal. She holds a Ph.D. in Management (Accounting) from Queen’s University, alongside advanced degrees in Public Accounting. Her research focuses on auditing dynamics, professional recruitment challenges, and the role of accounting information in early-stage ventures. She has supervised MSc projects addressing pandemic impacts on auditor knowledge transfer, financial information use in startups, and social entrepreneurship frameworks.

Research interests include auditing ethics, auditor-client interactions, and recruitment practices in the Big Four firms. Recent work explores how ex-auditors' past experiences influence professional culture and independence risks in audits. Courses taught include professional accounting role analysis and audit process preparation.
