Lauren Savit

Lauren Savit is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Northeastern University’s College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH). Her research focuses on intersections of media studies, queer theory, and feminist pedagogy, examining how media shapes and reflects social identity categories like gender, race, and sexuality. She holds a PhD in Gender Studies from Indiana University (2022). Current projects include a book analyzing 1990s media spectacles (e.g., the Clarence Thomas hearings, OJ Simpson trial) and their lasting cultural impact.

Teaching highlights include WMNS/MSCR 2505: Digital Feminisms, exploring feminist activism in digital spaces. Her work has appeared in journals such as Feminist Media Studies and Transformative Works and Cultures. She is affiliated with the Society for Cinema & Media Studies and the National Women’s Studies Association.

Her research spans media analysis, queer representation, and feminist critiques of popular culture. Office hours are Mondays & Wednesdays 1:30–2:30 PM in Holmes Hall.
