Lauren Moskowitz is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Assistant Chair at St. John’s University’s St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She is a core member of the School Psychology (Psy.D. and M.S.) programs. Dr. Moskowitz holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Stony Brook University, an M.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook, and a B.S. in Human Development from Cornell University. She completed her clinical training at NYU Child Study Center and Bellevue Hospital.
Her research focuses on behavioral interventions for autistic youth and children with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD), emphasizing parent-mediated strategies to address challenging behaviors and integrate Positive Behavior Support (PBS) with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety. She leads initiatives like the Home and Community Positive Behavior Support Network (HCPBS) and co-edits the journal Behavior Modification.
Dr. Moskowitz is Co-PI on an NYS Office of Mental Health grant (SPIRIT-ID-ASD) training providers in mental health care for neurodivergent youth. She has mentored over 20 doctoral students, with recent projects addressing mindfulness-based interventions, trauma-informed care, and community provider practices. Her work spans academic publications, webinars, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Teaching responsibilities include graduate courses on behavior therapy, evidence-based interventions, and Applied Behavior Analysis, alongside undergraduate courses on autism, intellectual disabilities, and psychoeducational consultation.
