Lauren Housley serves as Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Dietetic Internship Program in the Department of Nutritional Sciences within the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia. She teaches Fundamentals of Human Nutrition (NUTR 2100), Dietetics Practicum (NUTR 5910), and Dietetic Internship courses while leading an ACEND-accredited program that partners with clinical sites, foodservice operations, school nutrition programs, and community organizations to train future registered dietitians.
Her educational background includes:

- M.S. in Foods and Nutrition, University of Georgia (2010)
- Dietetic Internship in Clinical Nutrition, University of Georgia (2010)
- B.S. in Dietetics, University of Georgia (2008)
Housley's research investigates diet-disease mechanisms with emphasis on cancer chemoprevention through phytochemicals like sulforaphane, nutrient bioavailability, nutritional epigenetics, and biomarker development. Her work includes human feeding studies examining sulforaphane's effects on cytokine signaling and cancer cell proliferation in breast tumor microenvironments, alongside investigations into zinc and vitamin D's impact on bone health using molecular biology and epigenetic techniques.
As Director of the Dietetic Internship Program, she oversees a graduate-level curriculum where students earn master's or doctoral degrees while completing supervised practice. Her teaching philosophy centers on empowering students to build nutrition literacy and professional purpose, with program partnerships spanning clinical facilities, private practices, and UGA Cooperative Extension to provide diverse hands-on training experiences.
