Yongping Bao

Professor Yongping Bao holds a prestigious position as Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia (UEA), and is a member of research groups including Metabolic Health, Nutrition and Preventive Medicine, and Cancer Studies. His career spans over three decades, with academic appointments at UEA since 2005 and prior roles as a Research Scientist at the Institute of Food Research (IFR), Norwich. He completed his PhD at UEA in 1996, following earlier academic training in China.

His research focuses on phytochemicals—particularly isothiocyanates and selenium—in cancer prevention, exploring their mechanisms in epigenetic regulation, antioxidant pathways, and synergistic effects with nanotechnology. Key areas include nanoencapsulated drug delivery systems for enhanced bioavailability and anticancer efficacy. Collaborations span global institutions, emphasizing translational research in oncology and nutritional science.

Teaching contributions include medical nutrition education for UEA’s MB/BS program, emphasizing chronic disease prevention and clinical skills.
