Lauren Ferry

Lauren Ferry is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Mississippi, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and the Department of Political Science. She teaches courses on international relations, political economy, and international organizations. Her research focuses on the distributional consequences of sovereign debt, foreign aid, and the role of international financial institutions like the IMF. She holds a Ph.D. (2019) and M.A. (2015) in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego, and a B.A. from the College of Wooster.

Her work examines how powerful states and international organizations influence global financial policies, particularly in debt restructuring and aid allocation. Recent publications analyze IMF negotiating missions, donor preferences for bypass aid, and the political economy of sovereign debt defaults. Ferry’s research has been featured in journals such as International Studies Quarterly and The Review of International Organizations.

Teaching highlights include Politics of the World Economy and Seminar in International Political Economy. She maintains an active research agenda on global financial governance and development economics.
