معرفی
Dr. Lauren Davey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Victoria, Faculty of Science. She holds a BSc and MSc from Lakehead University and a PhD from Dalhousie University. Her research focuses on the gut bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila, investigating its genetic basis for colonization, interactions with host health, and potential for probiotic development. Key areas include understanding how different Akkermansia strains influence host metabolism and microbiome dynamics. Her lab has secured significant funding, including a $1.1 million CIHR grant, supporting studies on microbial adaptation and therapeutic applications. Collaborations span global researchers, emphasizing translational research to bridge basic science and clinical outcomes. Dr. Davey’s work addresses gaps in microbiome research, aiming to leverage microbial insights for improving metabolic and neurological health.
