Lauren Burns serves as Associate Professor of Instruction and Deputy Chair of the Department of Statistics, Operations and Data Science at Temple University's Fox School of Business and Management. She teaches undergraduate courses including Statistical Reasoning & Games of Chance, Quantitative Methods for Business, and Statistical Business Analytics, alongside graduate courses in the MS in Business Analytics, Fox MBA, and Executive MBA programs.
Her academic credentials include a PhD and MS in Statistics from Temple University's Fox School of Business and a BS in Mathematics and Economics from Muhlenberg College.
Dr. Burns' research centers on Biostatistics with emphasis on Survival Analysis for genomic applications. Her work addresses critical challenges in non-proportional hazards modeling, high-dimensional data analysis, and dimension reduction techniques for microarray gene expression datasets, contributing to methodological advances in biomedical research.
Recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on developing statistical frameworks for censored survival data in omics studies, particularly optimizing feature selection and dimension reduction in large-scale genomic contexts under complex hazard structures.
She applies her expertise through consulting projects at Temple University's Center for Statistical Analysis, providing data science solutions for external partners.
